Iceland is a different world. This is a world of volcanoes, geysers, waterfalls and glaciers, the home of the Vikings, surrounded by the endless Atlantic Ocean.
On this fascinating 10 days tour we ride around the island of ice and fire, and stop to discover every unique wonder of nature. So this wonderful tour is primarily about the wonders of nature and only secondarily about motorcycling. During this tour you can go as close to an active geyser that you could touch it (if it wouldn’t be quite hot), you can walk on the edge of a steep crater, you can walk so close to a glacier that you can even hear the friction, you can walk behind a huge waterfall and feel the thunder in your body as the water falls down, you can visit an interesting Shark Museum and taste a real traditionally prepared shark meat, you can walk on a lava field (already cold of course), you can swim in a special place, the amazing thermal heated Blue Lagoon, you can walk between the receding North American and the Eurasian tectonic plate, you can discover special places in Reykjavik, like the Penis Museum ... and many-many unique experience that difficult to list. And on a top of that you can ride around Iceland on a motorcycle.
After landing in Reykjavik, quick transfer to the hotel. Depends on your arrival and time available, you can discover this beautiful city. In the evening, when all the group members arrived, we all gather for an excellent dinner to get to know each other and the tour guide gives a short briefing about the tour.
After a good breakfast in the hotel, we mount our motorbikes and start the tour. Firs day we ride on a famous route called The Golden Triangle. Along this route there are many interesting attractions like Thingvellír National Park where you can walk between the receding North American and the Eurasian tectonic plate, Strokkur Geysir where every 8-10 minutes there is a jet-like eruption, Gullfoss waterfall and Kerid crater.
The most of the attractions are here in the southern region of Iceland so there are busy days ahead of us. Here we can walk behind one of the most beautiful waterfall Seljalandsfoss, not to far there is another nice one, Skógafoss waterfall, the next must-see is the amazing Reynisfjara Black Beach, then the first glacier, Sólheimajökull Glacier, then the second, Svínafellsjökull Glacier, then the beautiful glacier lagoon Jökulsarlón.
One night in Egilstadír, the largest town in East Iceland, then we go up to the northern region. In the middle of nowhere in the wilderness of Iceland there is Mödrudalur Farm, the highest settled farm in Iceland at an altitude of 469m, where the remarkable tiny church was built by the farmer himself.
Then countless waterfalls, but there are some really spectacular ones, like Dettifoss, Selfoss and Godafoss, endless lava fields, and there is lake Myvatn, Hverír geothermal field, and Grótagjá cave as well. Then Akureyri, the fourth largest town in Iceland, what is called the capitol city of north Iceland.
By the time we get here, we only stop at every second waterfall because there are so many. The beauty of the nature continues on the east side of the island, on the Snaefellsjökull peninsula. There is a huge lava field from the snowy Snaefellsjökull volcano, what dominates the landscape. There is the unique Shark Museum, where you can taste a real traditionally prepared shark meat, and Malariff lighthouse as well. Approaching Reykjavik there is a Whale Fjord, what used to be a whaling center, and it is worth to ride around, because there is a lovely winding road.
The last day is free day it is for sightseeing in Reykjavik. The world famous and quite a unique Penis Museum, the Hallgrímskirkja church Reykjavik’s main landmark, and the tallest building in Iceland with its 74,5 meters. At the afternoon, as a last chapter of our fascinating tour, we visit, and take a bath in the world famous Blue Lagoon, known about its light blue hot water.
Please bear in mind, that Iceland's road network is quite rare, and there are many roads, mainly inside, unpaved. During this tour we try to avoid unpaved roads, but sometimes we can’t. approx. 95% we ride on paved roads, but there is 5% unpaved. But those gravel roads we can’t avoid are in good condition, and the motorbikes are prepared for it, so do not afraid, you can survive! According to the popular Icelandic saying: “The gravel road is not Off-Road!”
